I grew up in Hemet, California, home of the Ryan Air Attack Base — formerly known as Tanker Town USA and Top Mudd. At just six years old, I began visiting the base and was instantly hooked by the sights, sounds, and action of aerial firefighting.
I would often make my way down to the departure end of the runway and watch as heavy airtankers thundered into the sky, sometimes barely clearing the fence as they headed out to battle wildfires. Those early memories left a lasting impression and sparked a passion that has only grown stronger over the years.
Surface 2 Air Design was created from that passion.
What began as a personal appreciation for airtankers, air attack aircraft, and the crews who operate them has grown into a business dedicated to honoring the men and women of aerial firefighting. Each design is inspired by their courage, skill, and fearless response to protect lives, property, and communities from the unpredictable force of wildfires.
Through decals, apparel, artwork, and custom designs, Surface 2 Air Design pays tribute to the aircraft, the bases, and the people behind one of the most demanding missions in aviation.
